Update 1

Weight:      14 pounds
Bailey is doing very well.  Although she cannot pull herself into a sitting position, she can sit up all by herself.  If propped up, she can stay standing against a wall or piece of furniture.  She isn't even close to crawling, but she is getting stronger all the time.  We are happy with her progress and so is her occupational therapist.  The three pictures below are of her demonstrating how strong she is.  As you can tell from the look on her face, she is grunting during these demonstrations of her strength, but she always laughs afterwards.

Bailey went to the doctor this past Thursday for the first of her monthly RSV shots that she will get this winter.  She weighed in at 14 pounds.  The doctor said she is doing very well.  The doctor also did a spot check of Bailey's saturation and it was a solid 98%.  Although this test was not necessary, it was still reassuring to see her do so well.  We are looking forward to her first Birthday which we will celebrate while we are in California for Thanksgiving.  You can expect another update at that time.  It is hard to believe she is almost 1 year old.

The first of the three pictures bellow is of the two most beautiful girls in my life.  The second two pictures are of Bailey in her first Halloween costume.  Stacey made this candy corn costume herself.  I was very proud of her.

We took Bailey to the hospital on Halloween night to visit some of her NICU care takers.  It was an all too familiar feeling to be in the hospital on a cold winter night with snow falling outside, but it was fun to see old faces.  The best part was that we didn't have to leave Bailey at the hospital.

Update 2
Saturday December 20, 2003
Weight:      14 pounds 8 Ounces
Bailey is now one year old.  The picture below was taken on December 12, 2003.  It is hard to believe that it was over a year ago that Bailey was born.  She has come so far in such a short period of time.  I am a proud father.
For Thanksgiving we went to California to visit with my family.  While we were there, Bailey had a chance to play with her cousin Ethan.  Ethan is six months old and is all boy.  Everything about that kid is boyish.  Despite that fact that he is half Bailey's age, he is almost double her weight.  Bailey's bird legs can clearly be seen in the second picture below.

While we were in California, Bailey learned to hold her own bottle.  This was a very happy day in my life!

Bailey also loved playing with her cousins Andrew and Michael (Ethan's brothers).  Bailey laughs all the time and we are constantly being told by other people what a good baby she is.  I feel truly blessed to have Bailey as a part of my family.  I never thought I could have so much love for others.  Children and families make us better people.

Have you ever wondered what goes through the heads of two kids at play with each other.  View these pictures in order for a rare glimpse of a conversation between a 6 month old and a 1 year old.

We celebrated Bailey's first birthday on November 29th in California.  It was fun and Bailey was very interested in her gifts.  She is acting older ever day.  Before I know it she will be off to college.

This was one of Baileys gifts.  It is an exercise ball to help her arms get stronger so that she can learn to crawl.  She just likes to use it as a drum.

Bailey was a little unsure of her cake.  She wasn't exactly sure what to do with it.  However, she did manage to make a mess (with a little help from dad).

And she looked so cute in the tub afterwards.

When we got back to Utah we had another party for Bailey.  Brooklyn (who is about 4 months younger than Bailey; standing next to her in the first picture below) is crawling.  On the other hand, Bailey is still just sitting (second picture).  And like all kids Bailey loves balloons!

Bailey is doing very well.  Thank you to everyone for their continuing support and love.  Merry Christmas!  I will update this page again after the holidays.

Update 2
Monday March 1, 2004
Weight:      15 pounds 2 Ounces
On February 25, 2004 Bailey had her one year old adjusted birthday (sort of).  Her adjusted birthday is her birthday according to her original due date.  Because Bailey's due date was adjusted to March 11th after she was born she won't really be an adjusted one year old for another two weeks.  However, the original due date of February 25th was a good excuse to update Bailey's website.  I will update it again around March 11th of this year.
Below are three pictures of Bailey's first Christmas.  She had a great time in Oregon with Stacey's family and really enjoyed all of the action.  She liked her Christmas presents but liked playing with her cousins even more.  For those of you that are HALO fans, the picture in the middle below is of Bailey with a toy Warthog that I gave to Bailey's uncle for Christmas.  In the third picture Bailey is chewing on the leg of a Tauntaun (Star Wars Creature).

Sometime around the end of the year Bailey took an interest in sleeping under the bumper pads in her crib.  As you can see from the first picture below, she loves to hide her face under the pads and then go to sleep.  Bailey also loves playing with her toys in her crib and always wakes up in a good mood.

In early January we realized that we really needed a high chair.  We had received one as a gift for Bailey's baby shower but took it back to the store because we didn't have any room for it in our small condo and we didn't have an immediate need for it.  In January we realized that we now had the need but we still didn't have the room.  The solution was to buy one of these handy chairs that hooks right onto the table or counter top.  Bailey loves to swing her feet while in her new chair and really likes being up off the floor and more involved with everything going on around her.

Right about this same time Bailey got her first tooth.  Her first tooth was a top molar on the left side of her mouth.  No one I have talked to has ever heard of a baby's first tooth being a molar.  Oh well, Bailey has a history of not doing things in "normal" order.  Her two upper front teeth broke through shortly after the molar.  The left one was first followed quickly by the right one.

I received a Rubik's Cube for Christmas that Bailey feel in love with.  The second picture below is of Bailey on a bad hair day.

Not only did Bailey start hiding under her bumper pads while sleeping, she also discovered that she can move the pads and see out of her crib.  She sometimes falls asleep that way (as can be seen in the first picture below).  Bailey really likes it when we sneak into her room in the morning and call her name while staying low enough that she can't see us.  Upon hearing her name she moves the pad so that she can see us and smiles.  It is her early morning version of peek-a-boo.  The second picture below is kind of creepy.  It is of our headless baby sleeping in her crib.

No, Bailey is still not crawling!  However, she will stay on all fours for a little while if she is put in that position by someone else.  When other crawling babies are around she will rock back and forth but has not yet tried to move her hands or her feet while in this position.  These pictures were taken one day after her sort-of-first-adjusted-birthday.  The stamp on the picture is one day fast due to user error on my part.
